Official rules

Effective October 22, 2026.

1. Sponsor. The San Tan Scoop, operated by Jacob Padgett, 21168 E Ocotillo Rd #1135, Queen Creek, AZ 85142 ("we"). Contact: hello@santanscoop.com.
2. No purchase necessary. The newsletter is free. No purchase or payment is required to join, refer, or receive a reward.
3. Eligibility. Open to active subscribers who are legal U.S. residents, 18 or older. Jacob Padgett and members of his household aren't eligible. Void where prohibited.
4. How it works. A referral counts when a new person signs up with your personal link, confirms their email if asked, and stays subscribed. Referred sign-ups must be real people with their own unique email addresses. You can't refer yourself or an address already on the list. Only sign-ups made with your link on or after the start date count.
5. Sharing your link. If you post your link publicly, for example on social media, say that you get a reward, such as: "I may earn a reward from The San Tan Scoop if you sign up with my link." Share only with people you know or in places where it's allowed. No bulk email, bought lists, or spam.
6. Rewards. At 5 referred sign-ups, you get a shout-out in the newsletter, by the name you choose. You can skip it if you'd rather. At 10 referred sign-ups, you get a $15 gift card to a local business we choose, but only after each of those 10 sign-ups has stayed subscribed for more than 120 days. Gift cards go to the first 20 subscribers who qualify, in the order they qualify. Rewards have no cash value and can't be transferred. We may swap in a gift card of equal or greater value.
7. Limited time. The program runs from October 22, 2026, through June 30, 2027. There's a $300 total limit: 20 gift cards at $15, for the first 20 people who qualify. Except as described below, to qualify, all 10 of your referred sign-ups must have stayed subscribed for more than 120 days by June 30, 2027. That means the last sign-up date that can count is March 1, 2027. If 20 gift cards are claimed first, the gift card offer ends then. We may also end the program early under the Changes rule below. If we do, anyone who already has 10 referred sign-ups when we announce the end can still qualify once those sign-ups pass 120 days, even if that's after June 30, 2027, up to the 20-card limit. This is the only exception to the March 1, 2027 and June 30, 2027 dates above. We'll post any change to these dates here and note it in the newsletter. Shout-outs may continue after the gift card offer ends.
8. Winners and delivery. A gift card is earned on the day the last of your 10 referred sign-ups passes 120 days subscribed, as long as all 10 are still subscribed. We check eligibility by hand using Beehiiv's referral records, and our decision is final. We'll notify you at your subscriber email address within 7 days of qualifying, and email the gift card within 14 days after you confirm. If you don't respond within 30 days, the card goes to the next person who qualifies. If more than one person qualifies on the same day, the person whose 10th referred sign-up came first goes first. Shout-outs run in an upcoming issue after we confirm the name you'd like used.
9. No fraud. Fake, duplicate, disposable, or automated sign-ups, spam, or any other abuse don't count. We may disqualify participants, remove referrals, and withhold or reclaim rewards at our sole discretion.
10. Changes. We may change, pause, or end the program, or these rules, at any time. Changes take effect when posted here and don't take away a reward you've already earned.
11. Taxes. Participants are responsible for any taxes on rewards.
12. Limitation of liability. We aren't responsible for referrals that aren't tracked because of technical problems, including problems with our newsletter platform. Our total responsibility to any participant is limited to the reward they earned under these rules.
13. Privacy. Referral data is handled under our Privacy Policy. Referral tracking is provided by our newsletter platform, Beehiiv.
14. Governing law. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona.
